A Work in Progress… and Some Thoughts on the Power of a Good Book
I love this stamp! When I decided to start StampInsanity, THIS is the one set I had in mind from the very first ink-ling (sorry, it was there!) of possibility. I can say without question, that most of the joys in my life, apart from my family and friends, have books in the mix somewhere. I have met some of my loveliest friends, and grown closer to older ones, through conversations about books – Twilight leaps to mind! Scrapbooks – what better way to bond than over that labor of love?! Certainly we all know just what amount of time and love goes into a scrapbook! Just sharing your albums with someone new sparks interest and at least a few minutes of animated conversation about the latest trend or tool.
In a perfect world, I would read for about 8 hours a day! At least. A good book infects your soul ~ and that would have made a perfect sentiment stamp for this set… Drat!
I’d bet that you know what I mean. That book that gets under your skin and makes you think about it long after you’ve closed the cover on it. The one that made you laugh. Or sigh & swoon. Or cry. Or clutch a blanket to you in fear. Or want to shriek at a character’s choices! Perhaps it just makes you think about the world in a different light – maybe how you can do your part to make the world a better place. Maybe it does all of the above if the author is really ambitious! Most definitely, books have power, and books are gifts. ![]()
Another great joy in my life is sharing – and sharing the things I love most: my books, my crafts, and now my stamps. For it’s part, reading makes me a better person. Let’s get on to the sharing. Enough blathering, (yes, I heard you!) and on to the photos.
These are two snippets of a much larger project I am working on. It started out as a sample to post for release day – but it has morphed into something bigger. When it is finished, I will share it in whole. In my mind’s eye, it seems like a winner… remains to be seen, I suppose! (Although, while I love this sentiment, I probably should redo it on regular cardstock and not the glossy paper I used here…) As always, my photography is severely lacking… it reads: Books can be dangerous. The best ones should be labeled “This could change your life” ~Helen Exley
I mentioned Twilight before, and if you are familiar with Twilight Nation at all, you know that there is a CRAZY amount of fan art out there. I chose to go that route with this one, since the proposed recipient is a huge RPattz (Edward/Robward/Robert Pattinson, for the uninitiated Twilighter) freak, uh, enthusiast, I printed a couple of little photos and added them to Morgan’s scrapbook. Apparently, Morgan is a TwiFan, too! Who knew?! It looks so cute, I think I will do one with pictures of my kiddo in it. Some day – not today though! I have 5, yes FIVE, new releases stacked up here begging me to meet my deadlines so I can dive in and start reading… and guess what? I did! So go find a good book and get lost in it for a little while, and I will see you next time!
