All That Shimmerz *IS* Gold!

Yeah, no one can butcher Shakespeare like I can… And I *REALLY* hope that I am attributing that butchered quote (“All that glisters is not gold”) to the correct author.  See, if I had ONE single spare ounce of mental energy, I would look it up.  Alas, Google makes it FAR too complicated, so I won’t.   I *do* know that the word really is “glisters” – because seriously, have you ever heard ANYone use that word in modern conversation?  I’m sticking with Willie.  Merchant of Venice?  Drat!! Now I *have* to go check…

ANYway…  the Stamp SIStahs are doing reviews for some products that Tonya offers in her StampHappens shop.  The uber-talents have unbelievable projects using Shimmerz and Blingz paintable shimmer medium.  (Ahhh – my poor opening makes sense now, right???) I will add the blog roll at the end of this post for your easy-peasy blog-hopping pleasure.  Being ME, I will add my Two Cents… I just recently discovered the stuff, and decided I love it.  Random (& admittedly slightly inappropriate) thought: heard the Frank’s Red Hot radio ad?  The little ol’ Granny: “I put that sh** on everything!”  That’s me.  I am on a major sparkle kick.   It is so unlike me!  That’s why I surround myself with amazing artists.  Imitation and flattery and all that…  back to my Two Cents:

Halloween Henry 2 Here is a project I just did for my (insert Shameless Self-Promotion) second release of SI Henry and Morgan stamps. I love Shimmerz!  The sparkle is subtle, like me (ahem…) and is so easy to use.  Personally, I found that a very short bristled brush works best for me.  I like the control that affords me.  What is also nice about the product, is that you can control the opacity of it.  When you open the container, there is usually that congealed ‘goo’ (technical term) around the rim and the lid liner – that is usually what I use!  I prefer to use it a little thicker than most, I assume.  If I *must* dip into the medium, I make sure to shake it up real well – remember, the ‘sparkle’ most definitely settles, and does so very quickly.  You may have to recap and shake after a bit.  This works in the reverse as well – if you want just a faint hint of shimmer, don’t shake it at all!   Anyway – the product is great, if subtle.  I can’t wait to get my hands on some Blingz for a more intense sparkling experience!

I will also agree completely with Steph, it is ridiculously difficult to photograph anything shimmery!  Of course, I offer another atrocious picture, which doesn;t help the cause one bit! Trust me, Henry Cullen over there sparkles.  I used Angel Wings, which is essentially colorless, so it adds shimmer to any light color without diminishing the value of the color.  LOVE it!  Go get some – try it for yourself! :)
